The library houses some 4,000 books – both fiction and non-fiction. There is a collection of magazines – both curriculum-linked and recreational – and also a daily newspaper. The library is open all day every day and the boys have ample opportunity to visit during rest or free time in order to borrow books, read the newspaper/magazines or study quietly. There is a qualified and experienced librarian available during the day for help and advice. When they join Ludgrove, boys are given a library induction lesson during which they learn how to find books easily and how to use the fully automated library management system. In subsequent library lessons they learn about library/research skills. Annually there are author visits arranged for the various year groups, and also a book fair, when boys have a chance to browse the shop shelves and purchase some books.
